Who is Pritam Singh Lodhi
In a surprising turn of events in Bhopal, Pritam Singh Lodhi, a prominent leader from the Gwalior-Chambal region, finds himself ousted from the BJP due to his contentious remarks about Brahmins. The expulsion took place at the BJP headquarters in Bhopal this morning, stripping him of his primary membership.
During an event commemorating the birth anniversary of the warrior queen Avantibai Lodhi, Pritam Singh Lodhi took the opportunity to criticize Brahmins, accusing them of manipulating and troubling people under the guise of religion.
A widely circulated video captured the controversial nature of his statements.
His verbal assault prompted Praveen Mishra, a leader from the BJP youth wing, to file a police case against Lodhi. The charges include inciting enmity among people.
Notably, the 62-year-old leader is already entangled in 37 cases, encompassing four attempted murder cases and two instances of murder.
Despite facing defeats in the 2013 and 2018 assembly polls as a BJP candidate from Pichhore (Shivpuri), Lodhi retains influence in the Shivpuri district of the Gwalior-Chambal region. He contested the last two assembly polls against Congress veteran KP Singh ‘Kakkaju’ from Pichhore assembly seat, losing by a narrow margin of just over 2500 votes in the 2018 polls.
Addressing the felicitation event in Shivpuri’s Kharaih village on Wednesday, Lodhi claimed that Brahmins thrive on the money and resources of the common people.
“They (Brahmins) desire to dine in the homes of beautiful women from respectable families. Their preference is for young women in the front row, relegating the elderly to the back row,” he asserted.
For the BJP, still striving to regain lost ground with the Brahmins of Uttar Pradesh, this development comes as a significant shock.
